Static Mixers in the Polymer Industry

Static mixers and Fluitec Mixer/Heat-Exchangers are used in many different process steps of the plastic-industry:

• mixing of monomers with initiators, regulators, etc.
• initiating the polymerisation: radicalic, ionic, thermic, catalytic, etc.
• controlled performance of polymerisation: mass polymerisations, solvent polymerisations, emulsion polymerisation, etc.
• processing of polymers: dosing and mixing of masterbatches and additives such as dye, flame resistants, softening agents, static inhibitors, etc. 
• processing of plastics: injection molding, extrusion, film blowing, spinning of fibres, foaming, etc.
• other processes

Mixing applications in the polymer industry are normally performed in  laminar flow regime, due to the high viscosity of its components. Especial requirements are posed regarding the temperature and concentration profiles, the ratio of the viscosities of the components to be mixed, the pressure drop, the dimensions, the throughput, the operating pressure and temperature.
